FRESHWATER BVD RESERVE

Public BBQ

Freshwater Boulevard Reserve unfolds across a substantial wetland corridor that surprises first-time visitors with its scale, stretching from Western Port Highway through to Thompsons Road. The waterways prove more expansive than initial maps suggest, creating a genuine suburban oasis within the Lyndhurst estate. Thoughtful planning shows in the layout, with BBQ facilities positioned to take advantage of wetland views while maintaining easy access from residential areas. The reserve serves as both functional recreation space and environmental buffer, where families can fire up the barbecue alongside picnic tables while watching waterbirds navigate the interconnected wetlands. It's the sort of neighbourhood amenity that punches above its weight, what appears as a simple linear park reveals itself as a properly scaled wetland system, complete with walking paths that follow the water's edge and adequate facilities for a proper outdoor meal. The reserve demonstrates how modern suburban planning can incorporate meaningful green space without relegating it to an afterthought.
